Tunnels for Turtles

U.S. Senator Tom Coburn, MD, today released an oversight report — “100 Stimulus Projects: A Second Opinion” — that discloses 100 of the worst examples of waste in the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act, or stimulus bill.
Here are 10 examples in the report:
1. $1.5 million in “free” stimulus money for a new wastewater treatment plant results in higher utility costs for residents of Perkins, Oklahoma.
2. $1 billion for FutureGen in Mattoon, Illinois, is the “biggest earmark of all time” for a power plant that may never work.
3. $15 million for “shovel-ready” repairs to little-used bridges in rural Wisconsin are given priority over widely used bridges that are structurally deficient.
4. $800,000 for little-used John Murtha Airport in Johnstown, Pennsylvania airport to repave a back-up runway; the “Airport for Nobody” has already received tens of millions in taxpayer dollars.
5. $3.4 million for a wildlife “eco-passage” in Florida to take animals safely under a busy roadway.
6. Nevada nonprofit gets $2 million weatherization contract after recently being fired for same type of work.
7. $1.15 million for installation of a new guard rail for the non-existent Optima Lake in Oklahoma.
8. Nearly $10 million to renovate an abandoned train station that hasn’t been used in 30 years.
9. 10,000 dead people get stimulus checks, but the Social Security Administration blames a tough deadline.
10. Town of Union, New York, encouraged to spend a $578,000 grant it did not request for a homelessness problem it claims it does not have.

Obama is Simply BU$H III

• President Bush expanded the federal budget by a historic $700 billion through 2008. President Obama would add another $1 trillion.
• President Bush began a string of expensive finan cial bailouts. President Obama is accelerating that course.
• President Bush created a Medicare drug entitle ment that will cost an estimated $800 billion in its first decade.
• President Obama has proposed a $634 billion down payment on a new govern ment health care fund.
• President Bush increased federal education spending 58 percent faster than inflation. President Obama would double it.
• President Bush became the first President to spend 3 percent of GDP on federal antipoverty programs. President Obama has already in creased this spending by 20 percent.
• President Bush presided over a $2.5 trillion increase in the public debt through 2008. Setting aside 2009 (for which Presidents Bush and Obama share responsibility for an additional $2.6 trillion in public debt), President Obama’s budget would add $4.9 trillion in public debt from the beginning of 2010 through 2016.

Since When?

When — in the history of the United States of America — has the President of these United States *FIRED* a private citizen who works for a private business? *WHEN?*
NEVER is the correct answer!
What on earth is happening to our country?
What HAS ALREADY happened to our country?
God help us.

Stop the Madness!

Somebody in Washington please step up and be a real man (or real woman)! Regardless of party, stand up for what’s right! Be a patriot! Be a hero! STOP President Obama’s budget! STOP IT! Do whatever it takes to STOP IT! We the people cannot afford it. Nor can our children or grandchildren or great grandchildren — which is exactly who will be paying for it. We the people did not — knowingly or intelligently — vote in favor of a socialist takeover of our economy. So STOP IT! NOW! STOP THIS BUDGET!

Grab your pitchforks, people! Figuratively speaking, of course. Rather, grab your laptops, your iPhones, your Blackberries and contact your senators and representatives and tell them to STOP THIS INSANE BUDGET!

It won’t work. We don’t have the money. Did I say it won’t work? Duh! WTF? People, look at your own personal checkbooks and tell me, is it possible to SPEND your way out of debt? The answer is not just “no,” but HELL NO! Again, I say, WTF?!

STOP THE MADNESS!
STOP OBAMA’S BUDGET!
STOP THE MADNESS!
STOP OBAMA’S BUDGET!
STOP THE MADNESS!
STOP OBAMA’S BUDGET!
STOP THE MADNESS!
STOP OBAMA’S BUDGET!
STOP THE MADNESS!
STOP OBAMA’S BUDGET!
STOP THE MADNESS!
STOP OBAMA’S BUDGET!
STOP THE MADNESS!
STOP OBAMA’S BUDGET!

STOP IT!

ESPN’s Politics

I love basketball and I love ESPN, but I am sick and tired of ESPN’s relentless updates on Obama’s bracket results. I have no problem with Obama picking teams in a bracket. I’m sure many presidents have done the same. It’s the inappropriate, unprecedented, over-the-top coverage of his bracket picks that I find offensive. When has ESPN ever given such coverage — or should I say, promotion — to a political figure? It’s totally inappropriate, and it’s offensive! I’m glad Obama is a basketball fan. We have that in common. But why is ESPN inundating its audience with coverage of Obama’s picks? It’s the Obama-worship I find offensive, not his bracket picks.

BTW, Coach K in 2012!
