Fat-Cat Bonuses … Well, Not Exactly

So, are you ticked off about the AIG bonuses? Yeah! Those stinking jerks! But Congress says they’re going to do whatever it takes to get that money back! Sweet!

But why didn’t Congress do something about those bonuses LAST YEAR when they knew about them (listed in AIG’s contracts prior to the big bailout).

And why did Chris Dodd personally insert an EXEMPTION into the stimulus bill protecting these pre-existing bonuses? Hmm. Interesting.

By the way, these are retention bonuses, they pay people who are scheduled to be laid off to stick around for the interim so that the person’s responsibilities don’t go undone.

If Congress was really upset about this money — a mere pittance compared to the amount of earmarks in the stimulus bill – they would certainly be more upset about the 92 million AIG gave to other banks, some of whom rejected the bailout money on the surface only to get it through AIG, and some of them in Europe.

So, let’s open our eyes and minds and see this mess for what it really is — a slight of hand, a misdirection, a ruse designed to get our attention off the impending doom of Obama’s tax increases and our resulting poverty, as well as something to gin up support for Obama amid his falling popularity. Recent poll numbers show support for the President is falling. People are starting to wake up and smell the fertilizer.

So don’t fall for this crap, and don’t allow democrats to tighten their control over private citizens. If Congress can TAKE this money from these people, then none of us has anything that is truly ours.
